Tualatin Oregon Real Estate
by Rob Levy
Tualatin, Oregon real estate is surrounded by remarkable beauty, located an easy 13 miles from Portland and 30 miles north of Salem. Although Tualatin has grown from its humble beginnings as a bridge town crossing the Tualatin River, this city of 26,000 has worked hard to retain its original character. The Tualatin Commons epitomizes the local experience – a 19 acre park in the heart of the city complete with a lake, pedestrian promenade, fountain, and public plazas
Tualatin has a long tradition for embracing the arts. The Concerts on the Commons summer music series – held July and August– presents free music concerts each Friday night. Another popular tradition is The Tualatin ArtSplash, where over 50 artists exhibit their work for sale on the Commons lakefront during the festival each July.
Shopping and Dining
Tualatin has a vibrant downtown area along the Tualatin Commons with commercial buildings, an upscale hotel, and restaurants. The open air experience does a person good. On the north end of town is Bridgeport Village, a new open-air shopping experience inspired by European markets. Tualatin residents are a short drive away from Washington Square, one of the premiere indoor malls in Oregon with over 170 shops and restaurants, and Frye’s Electronics in Wilsonville, one of the biggest electronics stores in the entire nation.
Parks and Recreation
Tualatin takes pride in its beautiful parks. This small community maintains over 200 acres of parks, trails and nature areas for your enjoyment. Kayak and canoe rentals are available for fun and play in Brown’s Ferry Park from late May through early September.
The gem of the park system remains the Tualatin Commons, which features a 3 acre lake in the heart of the city. Be sure to check out the Tualatin Crawfish Festival each summer, and the Pumpkin Regatta each fall (see video to the left). Events, concerts, and activities are posted on the City of Tualatin website.
